As I head away from a difficult year and walk into a New Year of promise, I am reminded that God is going to raise me up out of the ashes of yesterday, for He has promised,
“To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory.” Isaiah 61:3 NLT
I have spent the last few years mourning broken dreams, but in the midst of it all, God has been the lifter of my head. But more than that. My name means, “crown” and here in the above verse, WOW!!! God will give me a “crown of beauty”!!
OK – not just me, but hey! I’ve just bought a new crown for my upcoming Narnia party, so I’m claiming it! You can claim it for yourself!!
The thing with someone who wears a crown is this – you can’t slouch when wearing a crown! Can you imagine the queen if she slouched along while adorned in one of her crowns??? It just wouldn’t look right!
A crown has to be worn with strength and the confidence of someone who knows they are worthy of wearing a symbol of royalty! It is worn by someone who knows how to walk tall, who understands God is walking right beside them and has called them to walk in the full assurance of His mercy and grace.
Will that be you this coming year? Regardless of what the year has in store for you, don’t let the symbol of your royal status in Christ Jesus slip. You have been called to walk into your purpose and destiny, and you can’t do that if you take your eyes of your Heavenly Father. He will cause you to walk with your head held high, and your crown of beauty in place. He will cause you to rise out of the ashes of this last year. It might take a while, it might be a quick march, either way, may the Lord direct your steps, as well as mine.
