I never thought I would have the confidence to walk into a restaurant on my own, and sit and eat a meal by myself! Coffee shops – easy; fast food places – no problem; but a restaurant?? No chance!
So as I write this from my booth in Frankie & Benny’s where I sit by myself, I marvel at how much God has been developing strength of character within me. I’ve heard this whole “eating alone” thing debated countless times, and know there are people who don’t even hesitate to book themselves a table in a fancy restaurant, by themselves. Mother’s who relish the alone time. Singletons who date alone – because why shouldn’t they go to the movies just because no one else is available! I’m not even close to that, F&B is probably my limit! I wonder if there’s a bravery award for this?? Lol!
So what’s your bravery level?
When you think you can’t do something, for any number of reasons, let me tell you this one thing: You are more than able to do anything you set your mind to. God hasn’t created you to live a half-hearted life, oh no!
“…we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Romans 8:37
You have been created to live a victorious life; not one which is determined by who you have around you, but by Who you have WITHIN you. So don’t let anything hold you back, or stop you from accomplishing what you desire to achieve, or enjoying little treats and perks in life, along the way.
I’m not (just) talking about walking into a restaurant alone, I’m taking about those dreams and desires which lay dormant within you. Don’t let whatever current circumstance you are in steal the future laid out before you, by allowing it to become a limitation in your life. You want to open a specialist store or coffee house? Do it! You want to help victims of trafficking? Do it! You want to branch out and start your own business and be your own boss? Do it! You want to record an album? Do it! You want to write a West End show? Do it! There are no limitations for what you can achieve, other than what you place upon yourself.
You don’t need someone else to help you to achieve it. God is with you, and when we tune our ears to Him, He will direct your steps, and He will remain with you every step of the way!
So, no matter what happens today, or what your life looks like in this moment, remember this one truth: You are not on your own. The Lord is with you and He has promised He will never leave you to walk alone. Stand strong. Walk tall.
Even if that means going out for a meal by yourself!
