I totally love summer!
The rising of the sun as it breaks through the clouds, shining a warm light on everything. It just makes the world, the day, life itself, look and feel so much better, brighter, more hopeful – even sparkly! Do you know what I mean?
When the clouds hide the sun, everything feels dull and heavy, but then, when the sunlight breaks through the clouds, ripping through the darkness, there is suddenly a lightness and a warmth in the day. And it is glorious!
The Bible declares,
“Because of the mercies of ADONAI we will not be consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning! Great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23 (TLV)
Do you see that? God’s mercy and compassion are new every morning.
So the way I see it, is that when we recognise the Light of the Son breaking through the heaviness of life, there is a renewed sense of hope, of joy, of a brightness for each new day! There is a warm glow, which comes when the Light of the Son shines, and it causes everything to appear so much better. For as John said, in his opening account of Jesus, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overpowered it.”
The clouds of life, the darkness of your situation CANNOT, and WILL NOR overpower the light and lift of Jesus in your life!
Some of us need to LOOK UP and see the Son-Light as it breaks through the darkness which often clouds our vision! We need to see things from God’s perspective, and not our own! We need to see the new mercies which God gives to us EACH and EVERY day!
So my challenge is this – for the next SEVEN days STARTING TODAY (today being the day you are reading this post, whenever that may be) I challenge you to post SEVEN things you are grateful for at the end of each day, and challenge three friends each day to also take up the challenge. Include the verse from Lamentations, and let’s begin to be a people who recognises God’s mercy and compassion each and every day!
Are you up for this??
Let’s start a #GratitudeRevolution
Let’s recognise the gifts God blesses His children with each new day! And let’s spur each other to also look for the hope among the hopelessness, the joy among the sadness, the life among the dead, the love among the hate, the peace within the fight, the good amongst the evil. Because it is right there! God has promised He will never leave you, so when we see Him in each day, He begins to change our perspective.
“ADONAI bless you and keep you! ADONAI make His face to shine on you and be gracious to you! ADONAI turn His face toward you and grant you shalom!” Numbers 6:24-26 (TLV) (Bold emphasis is mine)
